Where is my data located?

Cubit Select is hosted using Amazon’s Sydney Data centres, using two geographically independent and isolated locations. Your data will never be moved to an international location and any changes to this location will be communicated to you.

The security of these locations is of the highest standard, with the Sydney locations having passed compliance allowing its use for Australian government data and departments. If you have specific requirements regarding where or how your data is hosted, please get in contact with us so we can discuss your needs.

 

Do I need to be online to use Cubit Select?

Yes. Cubit Select is an online solution hosted on the cloud. You’ll need an internet connection in order to log in and use Cubit Select.

 

Can my or other companies' subcontractors access Cubit Select?

No. Access to your jobs is restricted to the registered licence holders in your company. There is no access available for anyone, including subcontractors to submit their rates or view your data.

 

How secure is the data?

Leveraging Amazon, the world’s largest computing infrastructure provider, we are able to deliver the best available physical and cybersecurity protections. We also provide recommendations to maintain the highest level of protection, such as always updating your operating systems and web browser software to take advantage of all new security patches; along with using secure password management processes.

How does licencing/subscriptions work?

Access to Cubit Select is purchased on a subscription basis, billed annually. We have a special introductory offer for early adopters of Cubit Select.

How do I backup my data?

Cubit Select manages daily data backups for you, so there is no need to set up any recurring backup processes.

 

Who can access my data?

Access to your data is restricted to the registered licence holders in your company. Buildsoft’s access to your data is restricted and subject to a privacy policy. On request, Buildsoft can supply you with a copy of your data held in Cubit Select.

 

Can I request a trial of Cubit Select?

Yes. We offer a free 14 day trial of Cubit Select so you can experience the benefits and determine whether Cubit Select is the right solution for you. You’ll also need access to the most recent version of Cubit Estimating, our Natural Estimating system in order to use Cubit Select.

If you’re not using Cubit Estimating, speak to one of our Product Consultants about trialling Cubit Estimating as the estimating solution for your company. We’re here to help guide you.

 

Do I need to install Cubit Select?

No. One of the benefits of Cubit Select being an online solution is that you won’t need to install it onto your computer. You also won’t ever need to install updates; we update Cubit Select behind the scenes, so you’ll always enjoy the most up to date version of the software.

 

Are there any prerequisites to using Cubit Select?

Yes. Cubit Select integrates with our Natural Estimating solution, Cubit Estimating. To use Cubit Select, you’ll need to be successful using Cubit Estimating Pro. You’ll also need to have current Software Assurance cover on your Cubit Estimating licence to make sure your software is always up to date and the integration between Cubit Select and Cubit Estimating is working at its best for you. We also recommend using Google Chrome as your Internet browser. You may experience issues using any other browser.

If you're interested in Cubit Select but not currently successfully working with Cubit Estimating Pro, we can work with you to get you set up and trained with the knowledge and skills you'll need.

  • Why my backup setting refuse to connect? (Educational version)
    Cubit Estimating Management Console (open as administrator)-->Configure-->create-->Default (127.0.0.1)-->next (shows the database refuse the connection.)

  • Hi Yingxin,

    We would need to gather more information about the trouble to be certain, however, it sounds like the trouble may just be some missing information.

    The default option will enter most of the required details, but it will not add in the database password for example, and so will not be able to complete the process successfully.

    That said you should not need to do this with the student version as the database would be installed locally, and the connections automatically created.

    The student version would also not be able to connect to Cubit Select which is a separate product to Cubit Estimating.

    If you have experienced some trouble with getting the student version up and running, i would highly recommend opening a support ticket so that we can help you resolve the trouble.
