Insert ability to calculate subtotals in BT2

It would be great to be able to add the prices of a range of rows, to then be able to use the result to calculate a percentage item, rather like the TSUM function in Global Estimating.

    Hi Mark,

I've just chased up some more information about "Sub-Totals", our Developers have actually finished building the feature; but it's just still in testing. We had originally hoped to deliver it in Cubit 9, but it wasn't able to be tested and be ready in time. We do expect it to be released quite soon after Cubit 9 is released.

    Cheers,

  • Hi Mike,

Thank you for your suggestion. This will be in an upcoming release but there is currently no estimated release date.

  • Cubit 7 (when released) is providing cell referencing. However, will we be able to enter a "subtotal" on the 'Summary Sheet' that does not get added to the overall cost, i.e. an indication of the amount above, at any chosen point on the summary page?

  • Hi Grant,

You can add a line to the estimate for a subtotal yes, this is done with a formula that you would enter into the line item.
Examples of the formulas you can use are in the Referencing section of the update user guide (page 95).
You can access the updated guide by clicking the help icon in the top right hand corner of the software once you have updated to version 7.

  • Will not the value by formula be added to the compounding cost in the total column? Say we want the value visible for info at that point, but not compounding in the job total.

Example, you measure all the trade items. Then you add a subtotal line to show the value of all trades (but subtotal value is not to be included in job total). Then you enter new line "preliminaries" as a formula x %, then you enter another line with "profit" as a formula x %, then you add another subtotal at that point to identify trade costs + prelims + profit (but again subtotal value is not to be included in job total). Will non-compounding subtotals be available in V7?

  • Hi Grant,

I would just like to add some additional information to my previous comment.
If you add the subtotal again the total column of the job then this will contribute to the jobs overall total throwing your figures out.
However if you add the formula against one of the other columns such as the rate column this will provide the information you are looking for without affecting the job total.
There is a request for a subtotal line that our developers are currently looking at that should also make this process even simpler.

  • Mark,

We're in development right now for a "Sub-Totals" feature, which basically removes any row in your Estimate (Item Sheet, Calculation Sheet, or Rate Sheet) from being included in Totals. At the moment, we expect to release this in a major release following Cubit 9.

    Cheers
