Measuring columns , piles, etc, by length

I've just viewed the latest video at https://buildsoftau.wistia.com/medias/08h6vejzgk telling us of the features in Buildsoft version 8.1. The viewport seems to show a building on piles.

I'm really interested how this has been measured off a plan. As far as I know, we have to go around the plan and count the number of piles, and then enter the lengths of each pile manually, using the previous count in the Factor column. There is no way that I know where I would then be able to see the the piles in 3D, as shown in the video. Or is there?

    Mike,

Thanks for your question. The part of the video you are talking about is actually a BIM Model loaded in our Viewport.

We introduced a BIM Takeoff Module in November 2017, which can allow Cubit to Import IFC files directly into the Viewport. The BIM Takeoff Module requires Cubit Pro. You can contact sales@buildsoft.com.au to speak to one of our Team about BIM.

  • Danny, thanks for the response.

The BIM Takeoff Module would not useful with our current practice clientele. However, introducing the facility to measure vertical lengths in the standard Cubit would be really useful. I've been asking for this for some years. Has it moved any further up the wish list?
