Remote Desktop Connection Security Prompt When Connecting To Cubit Estimating Cloud

Follow

Overview

Following recent Windows security updates, users may encounter a new security prompt when initiating a Remote Desktop (RDP) connection to your Cubit Cloud system.

This prompt is part of enhanced security measures introduced by Microsoft and is expected behaviour.

What You’ll See

When connecting to a remote session, a warning similar to the following may appear:

  • “Remote Desktop Connection security warning”
  • Publisher: Unknown publisher
  • Additional options to allow access to local resources (e.g. drives, clipboard, devices)

Why This Is Happening

Recent Windows updates have introduced stricter validation for remote connections. As a result:

  • Some connections may be flagged as coming from an unknown publisher
  • Local resource access is no longer automatically granted

Temporary Workaround

To ensure full functionality during your remote session:

  1. When the prompt appears, review the available options
  2. Tick all relevant boxes, including:
    • Drives
    • Clipboard
    • Devices (e.g. printers)
  3. Click Connect

This will allow you to:

  • Copy and paste text between local and remote machines
  • Access local drives
  • Use connected peripherals such as printers

Note: These selections apply only to the current session and may need to be reselected on future connections.

Next Steps

We are currently investigating a permanent solution to prevent this prompt from appearing on each connection.

Once a resolution has been identified, we will provide an update.
