Use AI Auto Scale and AI Plan Rename When Importing Plans

AI Auto Scale detects the scale shown on a plan and applies it automatically. AI Plan Rename detects the plan name shown on the plan and renames the imported plan automatically. You can use both options together or separately.

Before you start
  • AI Auto Scale and AI Plan Rename are available during plan insertion.
  • Both options are off by default. Turn them on for new plans under Settings → Plans → AI settings.
  • Using either option, or both options together, consumes the same number of AI tokens.

Enable the options and import
Steps

Open Settings

Open Settings in Cubit Estimating.

Open the Plans tab

In the Settings dialog, go to the Plans tab.

Find the AI settings

In the Plans tab, locate the AI settings section.

Turn on the AI options

Switch on AI Auto Scale and/or AI Plan Rename (both are off by default).

Import one or more plans

Cubit analyses each plan

Cubit Estimating will analyse each selected plan.

Scale is applied

If a scale is detected, it will be applied automatically and shown in the bottom-left corner of the viewport.

Plan is renamed

If a plan name is detected, the plan will be renamed automatically.

AI runs in the background

After importing, you will see an AI processing message. Select Got it to dismiss the dialog — the process will continue in the background.

Multiple plans are processed separately

If multiple plans are imported, Cubit Estimating will process each page separately.

Start measuring

When the scale has been applied, you can continue measuring on the plan.

!These steps should be verified against the current build before publishing.

Check the result before measuring
iAlways check the applied scale before starting takeoff. The applied scale is shown in the bottom-left corner of the viewport — whether it was detected by AI or set manually — so you can confirm it at a glance.
To check and correct the scale

Check the scale in the viewport

Look at the bottom-left corner of the viewport to see the scale currently applied to the plan.

Select the imported plan

Open the plan details pane

Review the applied scale for the selected plan.

Correct the scale if needed

If the scale is incorrect, set it manually using the Set Scale tool before measuring.

!AI area tools are unavailable until the plan has a scale — this helps prevent incorrect take-off quantities. Set the scale (automatically or manually) before using the area tools.

If no scale is detected

If AI Auto Scale cannot detect a scale, Cubit Estimating will prompt you to set the scale manually.

Notes and limitations
  • If a plan contains multiple scales, Cubit Estimating will apply one detected scale.
  • The scale is picked up from the scale shown on the plan. AI may read it from the title block or elsewhere on the drawing — review the plan to decide whether the detected scale should be used.
  • Plans that have been exported, printed, or resized at a different page size or with "fit to page" settings can end up with a stated scale that no longer matches the actual dimensions. Scanned drawings may also not match their stated scale — always check the applied scale before measuring.
  • AI Plan Rename uses the plan or drawing name shown on the plan.
  • The original file name and page information can still be found in the plan details pane.
  • If you prefer to keep the original file name and page number as the plan name, leave AI Plan Rename off before importing.

AI can and does make mistakes. Always review and verify every result before using it in your estimate — AI-generated shapes, counts, and detections may be inaccurate, incomplete, or miss elements entirely. Use your professional judgement to check all outputs.
