Cubit Estimating Cloud – Remote Desktop Access Policy

Purpose
This policy outlines the technical requirements necessary to enable Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) access for users of the Cubit Estimating Cloud platform. RDP is a core component used to facilitate secure connections between end users and the Cubit Cloud infrastructure.

Scope
This policy applies to all IT teams and system administrators responsible for configuring firewalls, endpoint security platforms, and remote access tools within organisations using Cubit Estimating Cloud.

Policy Requirements

1. Firewall Configuration for RDP Access

   • Firewalls must be configured to allow outbound RDP (TCP Port 3389) connections.

   • Any restrictive policies blocking RDP traffic must be modified to permit secure remote desktop sessions specifically for Cubit Cloud users.

2. Remote Desktop Application Installation

   • All client devices accessing Cubit Estimating Cloud must have a supported Remote Desktop client installed. This includes:

     • Microsoft Remote Desktop (Windows/macOS)

     • Remote Desktop Mobile (iOS/Android)

   • IT teams must ensure that these applications are properly installed and updated to their latest stable versions.

3. Application Whitelisting in Security Platforms

   • Remote Desktop applications must be explicitly whitelisted in any installed security solutions, including:

     • Endpoint protection/antivirus software

     • Application control platforms

     • Web filtering tools

   • This will prevent false positives or automatic blocking of RDP sessions required to access Cubit Cloud infrastructure.

Rationale
Cubit Estimating Cloud leverages Remote Desktop technology to provide users with access to their hosted estimating environment. Without proper firewall and security configurations, users may experience connectivity issues, system unavailability, or degraded performance.

Compliance
All organisations must implement the above configurations prior to onboarding users to Cubit Estimating Cloud. Failure to meet these requirements may result in access issues and delayed support resolution.
