How does the ‘Deduct’ feature work

Follow

When placing doors and windows in your estimate, you have either noticed the ‘deduct’ feature or have wanted a need to remove one side or both sides from a calculation.

The ‘Deduct’ function comes into play when you add a door or window to a shape that is Length Less Openings or Vertical Area Less Openings. It will deduct the size of the door or window from either 1 or both sides of the wall.

When the deduct option is set to ‘one side’

For vertical area less openings result:
The area of the opening is deducted from the total vertical area of the shape to produce the result used in the calc sheet.

For length less area result:

The width of the door (windows are not deducted from length less openings) is deducted from the total length of the shape to produce the result used in the calc sheet.

When the deduct option is set to ‘two sides’

The area/width value of the opening will be doubled before being deducted.
