Migrate Cubit Estimating Data Between Computers - Network

Follow
  • Network Licence is designed to be used only on client machines all connected to a central Cubit Server. All Cubit Estimating job data will be stored on the Server, accessed by each client machine.
  • A database backup will copy all jobs, price lists, group codes, and plans.

Follow these steps to move your Cubit Estimating licence to another computer as well as the database.

Update Cubit Estimating Version

The client machines, current server and new server must be running the same version of Cubit Estimating. For ease of use, we recommend updating all systems to the most recent version before migration.

Note: Please make sure to validate the Cubit Estimating version you are entitled to before updating the software.

This opens a Backup settings window. Here, you can specify the following options that need to be set up for a backup to be taken correctly.

  • PostgreSQL install directory: This requires the selection of your PostgreSQL database bin. By default, use the most recent version number available in your program files. If unsure, reach out to support.
    Example directory: C:\Program Files\Postgresql\16\bin
  • Backup directory: The Backup directory can be set any desired accessible location.
  • Number of Backups: This number specifies the No of Old Backups to be kept in the backup location. As an example, If the number is set to 6, the 7th will rewrite the oldest instance available. This process will repeat each time after reaching your allocated number, ensuring you always have the 6 most recent backups.
  • Schedule Backups: Set Frequency and date/time for the backup to run automatically. It is important to make sure the machine will be on for the Backups to run at the specified time.

Initiating a Cubit Backup

Now from within the Cubit Management Console, you can select the Backup option. This will save a Backup to wherever your current backup directory is. This location can be confirmed through the configuration option discussed previously.

Select the Backup option

  • This may take some time, depending on the size of your Cubit Estimating data.
  • You will be notified when the backup is completed successfully, click Close to finish.
  • If the Management Console appears frozen, this likely points to the backup still being in progress.
