Working Remotely with Cubit Estimating

This article will help you prepare your data for working remotely with Cubit Estimating. In order to work remotely, you will need to export your Cubit Estimating data from your office computer and import it onto your home computer. 

 

What version of Cubit Estimating is used in the office?

Firstly, you need to find out what version of Cubit Estimating you are using in your office. All versions of Cubit Estimating need to be the same, including the one you are installing at home to ensure your Jobs are compatible. 

To check what version of Cubit Estimating you're running: 

1. Click the About button, from the far right of the ribbon.

2. The About Cubit Estimating window will open, which will display the Licence type and version number.

Exporting Jobs

1. From the Job Manager, ensure the Jobs tab is selected, and your Jobs are shown.

2. Select the Jobs you want to export. You can select multiple by holding Ctrl and clicking the different Jobs.

3. From the ribbon, click Export from the Data group.

4. The Export Job window will open. You can select a location to back up the selected Jobs by clicking the inside Job export path

5. Browse your computer to the location where you want to save your Jobs. 

6. Check which components of your Job you want to export. By default, all options are included except Include Picked Rates. You can change what's including by checking or unchecking the boxes beside each option. 

7. Click Export.

Exporting Price Lists

If you're using Price Lists in the Jobs your estimating, you will want to continue utilising the flexibility and power of this feature.

To export Price Lists:

1. From the Job Manager, ensure the Price List tab is selected, and your Jobs are shown.

2. Select the Price Lists you want to export. You can select multiple by holding Ctrl and clicking the different Price Lists.

3. From the ribbon, click Export from the Data group.

4. The Export Price List window will open. You can select a location to back up the selected Price Lists by clicking the inside Price List export path

5. Browse your computer to the location where you want to save your Price Lists. 

6. Click Export.

Exporting Grouping Codes
 

Grouping Codes are crucial to many Jobs but are not included when exporting a Job. Ensure you export your Grouping Codes when preparing to work remotely. 

To export Grouping Codes:

1. From the Job Manager, click Codes from the ribbon.

2. The Grouping Codes window will open. 

3. Select the type of Grouping Codes you want to export. By default, the Quantity tab is selected, click Rate tab to display the Rate Codes.

4. Click Export. 

5. Browse your computer to where you want to save the Code Group.

6. Click Save to export your Quantity Code Group or Rate Code Group to this location.

NOTE: You can only export one Code Group at a time, but you can repeat these steps for every Code Group you want to export.

 

Importing Grouping Code
 

To import Grouping Codes:

1. From the Job Manager, click Codes from the ribbon.

2. The Grouping Codes window will open.

3. Click Import. 

4. The Import grouping codes window will open.   

5. Click in the File field to browse your computer to where you're Code Groups are saved.

6. Select the Category, you can import a Code Group as Rate or Quantity. Then, enter a Group name and Description. These details will often automatically populate.

6. Click Import to save your Code Group in Cubit Estimating.

NOTE: You can only import one Code Group at a time, but you can repeat these steps for every Code Group you want to import.

 

 

Importing Jobs
 

To import Jobs:

1. From the Job Manager, ensure the Jobs tab is selected.

2. From the ribbon, click Import from the Data group.

3. Browse your computer to the folder where your Jobs are saved. 

4. Click OK to prepare the Jobs for importing.

5. The Import Jobs window will open, and display all the Jobs saved in the selected folder.

6. You can check the Jobs you want to import. You can click Select all or Unselect all for bulk actions.

7. Click Import

Importing Price Lists
 

To import Price Lists:

1. From the Job Manager, click the Price List tab is selected.

2. From the ribbon, click Import from the Data group.

3. Browse your computer to the folder where your Jobs are saved. 

4. Click OK to prepare the Jobs for importing.

5. The Import Price Lists window will open, and display all the Price Lists saved in the selected folder.

6. You can check the Jobs you want to import. You can click Select all or Unselect all for bulk actions.

7. Click Import

 

 

 

Saving Layouts 

Once Cubit Estimating is installed and your Cubit Estimating code files, jobs and price lists, you can set your Cubit Estimating layout.
