Count Takeoff

Follow

Affected version: Cubit Estimating 11.3

Count is used for counting specific objects used on a plan. It is used for counting objects such as
lighting fixtures, power points, taps, and toilets and useful for any trade that has a desire to
count a number of objects.

Counting Takeoff
Although most of your calculations will be pulled from shapes and lines you create and control,
when you need to count specific items, you would use the Count tool. This tool is used by clicking
Count in the Shapes group on the Home tab in the ribbon.

On plans, start by picking the line which you need to calculate the counts for that has the Result type of Count and then left-click on every applicable. Right-click to complete the count, and its total count will be added to the Quantity.

  • Apologies, I'm still unable to access my Excel or price list. When I try to input my price list, I continue to receive the warning: "Duplicate Reference Code, Import cannot proceed."

  • Hi Tanintoa,
The alert you are receiving indicates that the first column in your Excel file contains duplicate code IDs. We will raise a support ticket for you and one of our support technicians will reach out to assist you with this.

  • Hi Stonely,

If you already have the move cursor hovering over the counted item you need to delete when you press the control key, then the cursor may not immediately change to display the x.

However, if you continue to hold down the control key and move the mouse cursor away from the item, and then back to it, the cursor should display the x symbol.

Give this a try, but if it continues to give you trouble, then I would recommend raising a ticket with us for further assistance.

  • Hi Michael,

I’ve tried holding the key a bit longer, but it’s still not working.

However, I found a workaround that seems to work for me. In the calculation sheet, I selected the shape (Count) I needed to edit. Then I held down the Ctrl key and pressed (+ add point) or (- remove point) in the tool bar. Although an error message appears saying “Polyline shape must be selected to add/remove”, I clicked OK, moved the cursor to the point I wanted to add or delete, left-clicked to mark it, and then right-clicked to complete the process.

Thanks for the update and information on this.
Glad to hear that you were able to get this sorted, even if it was a bit of a workaround.
Hopefully all goes well for you from this point forward, but reach out to us if there is anything we can do for you.
